Super Model 'Dakota'

I have almost completed my work here in Austin. Back on a plane to Portland soon! I had so much fun with old and new friends. Shot lots of wonderful photos. Here is a pic of super model Dakota after her session. She modeled with her Mom, they are both beautiful!

My New Friend, Ruby!

Ruby

Ruby is my first doggie friend in Portland.  I met her the day I got off the plane. We have been great friends ever since.  We have had fun romps in the park, she LOVES to play ball.  Like most border collies she is very smart and beautiful.  Ruby spent the day with me in my new Portland studio.   As you can see she is a natural.

Saying Goodbye to Sweet Chip

I don’t have the words to tell you how much I love and miss Chip so here is a little poem.

If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane,
We would walk all the way to Heaven, to bring you home again
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why
Our hearts ache in sadness, and secret tears will flow
What is meant to lose you, no one will ever know

Two Views was a HUGE success!

Margarita with Apples

Hobo Abby

I’d like to take a minute to thank everyone that came out to the Two Views Gallery show! We raised over $500 dollars for EmanciPet and had a wonderful time doing it.

In case you missed it, here’s a little about the show:

Patty Mora Photography teamed up with Jay Herman from Zoom Pet Photography to bring you two artist’s perspective on pet photography.

A new twist to an old idea - I showed my new art series influenced by 17th Century still life painting. The twist? Incorporating pets!

Jay displayed a few samples from client photo sessions and also unveiled his new fine arts series.

It was a real pleasure working with Jay and I could not have thought of a better way to kick off my travels. So, again I want to thank everyone for the support they have shown for Two Views!

For a more extensive look at the photographs I featured during the show check my website: http://www.pattymoraphoto.com/index2.php#/rgallery/1/

Petcasso Begins!

This weekend we had the first painting session for Petcasso 2011.

Petcasso is an annual fundraiser benefitting the Animal Trustees of Austin program for providing affordable health care to Austin Pets. Last year’s event brought in over $180,000 and featured some very intricate paintings by some very talented pets and their owners. This year promises to be just as exciting and will be auctioning off works by the most gifted pet artists in Austin.

This year the event will be held on Sunday, April 17th.  So mark your calendars now for what promises to be a festive evening of unleashed animal artistry! For more information on this event and to see paintings from past years visit www.petcassoaustin.org

Watch out Bella, you’ve got some competition

Last time Bella came into the studio, it was obvious that she was born to be in front of the camera. Her diva attitude definitely shone through in her pictures.

Well she’s back, as sassy as ever, and she’s celebrating her 1st birthday. And this time she brought her new baby brother Edward! I guess stardom runs in the family because he was just as fun to shoot and I got a ton of great pictures of him as well. Maybe Bella has a bit of competition?

After the shoot they enjoyed some birthday cake and had a small party for Bella’s Birthday! Yum!

These two tiny dogs are destined for celebrity status, so keep an eye out for them!

One quick note: Don’t forget to check my facebook page for more information about the Two Views Gallery show taking place next Thursday, February 24, 2011! (www.facebook.com/PattyMoraPhotography)

Snow on Spa Day and Gallery Show

I hope everyone enjoyed the snow day a couple of fridays ago, I know I did! I went to the Austin Spa Resort – PAWS Event. After being pampered with massages, taking part in different work shops with the owners, dogs of all shapes and sizes came to get photographed. It was a neat event, and despite the cold weather, had a great turn out.

Next on the agenda…save the date Thursday February 24! I’ve teamed up with another pet photographer, Jay Herman of Zoom Pet Photography, and we are having a gallery show to showcase our work. For more information check the facebook page here:

This show is also a fairwell of sorts for me as I take my photography on road to San Fransisco and Portland for the next couple of years. Don’t worry, I’ll be back, though, hopefully with a lot of great stories and photographs!

Is one of your New Year’s Resolutions to save a pet? Well it could be! Here are the stories of Sadie and Emily, two sweet dogs that Kay Haynes and her family rescued. Maybe they will inspire you!

Sadie was found wandering the streets in South Austin and was taken to Town Lake Animal Center where she was spayed then moved to Westie Rescue which is where Kay and Family found her.  She was so filthy from being on the street that she was literally brown and of course they weren’t able to bathe her for 10 days after the spay.  When all the dirt came off they realized she was a diamond in the rough!  She’s about 7 yrs. old, very intelligent, can’t get enough love and attention, and the light of our lives.

Kay and her family found Emily at Wee Rescue 2 yrs. ago where she had been living in a foster home for several months.  She was turned over to the foster home because her previos owner worked long hours, which meant Emily had to be kept crated, and not recieve the love she deserved.  Kay’s greatest joy is seeing how much Emily loves being able to do exactly what she wants and how much she loves giving Kay’s family love.  She is probably around 7 as well.  They feel very blessed having found these two precious dogs.

Animal Trustees of Austin

The ATA also awarded me with the 2010 Volunteer Appreciation “Cody Award” for the work I have done for them. I would like to thank them for this award, I am deeply honored and extremely grateful.

Have an incredible day!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Cat Mountain

Well there is  no more denying that summer has finally left us, leaving fall to take its place, and you won’t hear me complaining about this gorgeous weather! The community of Cat Mountain decided to have one final farewell to summer with the last community barbeque of the summer, of which I was able to snap a few shots of a few of the children from the community enjoying it to the fullest.

The ‘Cat Mountain View’ is a new monthly magazine for the Cat Mountain community that I am going to be photographing for. The photograph below is of Grant and KC, new members of the community, at sunset on the balcony of their new home, which will be featured in the magazine!
